File format characterizers

File format characterizers are modules that identify in a precise manner the file formats of the files that make up the objects to be preserved.
Characterizers are selected by order of priority (larger to smaller), since every file will only be characterized by the first characterizer capable of performing this action.
Note: LIBSAFE comes with DROID installed, as characterizer software. DROID is a file characterizing software with a huge extended use. Should the use of another characterizer be necessary, please contact your LIBSAFE consultant.
Once the characterizers have been selected, we can indicate whether the characterization should be mandatory. If it is selected as such, all the ingestion job files have to be characterized. If a file cannot be characterized, that will make the ingestion job to end in error.
