File format characterizers

Characterizers are modules capable of checking the ‘features’ in a file and identifying it in a precise manner. Among the methods usually employed by the characterizers to identify, we have the recognition of those patterns always repeated in every file format or even in the file extension.

LIBSAFE uses DROID as a characterizer. DROID is a very widely used file characterizing software. Should the use of a different characterizer be necessary, please contact your LIBSAFE consultant.
