Access to an object’s metadata update through the web interface is carried out from an ingested object detail, so once we have accessed the object detail from some point in the interface, we will select Edit metadata descriptor values in the metadata section. That will cause shifting from the object metadata view to the editor for metadata update, as shown in the following images.

After clicking on Edit metadata descriptor values, the object metadata editing controls will show:

As seen in the object metadata editor, we can perform three different operations on the metadata:

  • Add a metadata value: when we select the Add new descriptor link, we will find a box under the editor where we can look for the descriptor, set a new value and Accept or Cancel.

Once all the necessary modifications have been carried out, we can undo the changes and leave the object metadata as they were by clicking on Restore values or confirm said metadata update by clicking on Save and apply.

If the object metadata update is confirmed, a confirmation message will show, and later another message will inform about the status of the object metadata update job generated.

Immediately afterwards, the status of the metadata update job will show:

Modify the metadata value: when we click on the icon, the field to modify its value will open. Once the value is modified, we will have to Update or Cancel said modification.

Delete the metadata value: when we click on the icon, the metadata value will be eliminated. When the metadata value is deleted, those descriptors with one single value will also disappear from the list.
