Programmed tasks

LIBSAFE allows for the programming and scheduling of some tasks, especially those of audit and generation of indexes for fast searches, as this is a fundamental part of the guarantee and access functionality of a preservation system. They are called programmed tasks.
The insertion and control of tasks is tightly tied to the general programming of the application, so it is not convenient to edit or insert any task or controller in this area without specific instructions from the LIBNOVA consultants.
A programmed task can be managed by a control panel. In LIBSAFE, this happens directly when the audit jobs are programmed. The audit jobs configured through the application will be shown in this panel.
Note: for a LIBSAFE systems administrator, what matters from being able to consult the programmed tasks, is to make sure that the system is not overloaded. Should the system be overloaded indeed, the systems administrator could control from this panel the deactivation of certain tasks, if needed, or their total deactivation.
There are also other types of programmed tasks that are periodically performed in a transparent fashion to the user. Some of these processes are helpful to the users in certain situations; others perform system maintenance tasks. They are called Automatic System tasks.
These tasks have different functionalities, unrelated with one another, in principle. The systems administrator will be able to activate or deactivate said tasks, based on the needs or the load of the server.
Editing this second type of tasks will only allow changing the period of execution of the task and its status, in order to activate or deactivate the task.
Note: be aware that the units in the execution period for the automatic tasks cannot be modified. These units are predefined, based on the type of automatic task. To change the units in the execution period, please contact the LIBNOVA consultants.
