# License

**LIBSAFE** is run under a license set by volume and date. The specific license applied is shown in the ***System Configuration - > Licensing*** section.

LIBSAFE applies its size limit to the original objects preserved; so, copies do not count for the license -you may and should define preservation plans with several copies for each object-.

At first use, the licensee will be disabled, and it will be necessary to access the *Activation panel* directly.

The activation panel allows for:

* Getting the machine ID for the server; this is the code for which **LIBNOVA** will generate a license valid only for this server, and restricted as set in the contract agreement. This code must be e-mailed to **LIBNOVA**. The code is shown for copying in a popup window.
* Activating the licensee, with the code given by **LIBNOVA** for the server ID that was sent to **LIBNOVA**.
* Deactivating the licensee. Once sent the deactivation code to **LIBNOVA**, the use time for the licensee will halt, if the contract so says. This action turns the system unusable, for which reason it must be used with care.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.libnova.com/libsafe-advanced-system-administrator-manual/system-configuration/license.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
