Creation of DIP profiles

To create a DIP profile in the system, all we need to do is access the main screen of DIP profiles through the link Create a new DIP profile. Once we get in, we can completely configure a new DIP profile, which may be later applied to the different preservation plans.

There are basically three sections in the configuration of a new DIP profile:

  • Profile information: in this section, we introduce the basic information related to the DIP profile.

    • Name of the profile: a descriptive name for the DIP profile

    • Status: based on the status, it will or will not be available to relate the profile with the preservation plans

    • Description

    • Create log file: it indicates whether the DIP profile will generate a log file

    • Create log file of results: it indicates whether the DIP profile will generate a log file of results, which will later be processed and inserted in the system database, to be shown in the results section of the retrieve job detail.Create log file: it indicates whether the DIP profile will generate a log file

    • Create a file with extra information: it indicates whether the DIP profile needs that LIBSAFE generate a file with extra information (with object information generated by LIBSAFE) to carry out its internal processes.

  • Profile files: in this section, we must include all the files required for the correct execution of the DIP profile. LIBSAFE lets us do that by means of a convenient drag & drop system, where we only need to drag and drop the files needed, or with the link Drag files or select from here, in which a Windows file selection window will open.

  • Profile parameters: The DIP profile parameters are configured next, if and when needed. By means of the Add link in the DIP profile parameters section, a form will show with the information needed to fill out, such as:

    • Description: brief description of the parameter, syntax, possible values, etc.

    • Type of parameter: in the configuration of the DIP profile applied to a preservation plan, the value of the parameter introduced will be validated based on the type of parameter selected. Besides, if the type of data selected is numeric, we will be able to restrict the parameter value to a range and specify said range.

    • Recommended value: we can indicate a value in order to facilitate further configuration of the DIP profile. This value will be modifiable when we apply the DIP profile to a preservation plan

    • Default value: in case the DIP profile will always need to have a value for the parameter, and there may be situations in which, due to the DIP profile functionality or because we do not want to force the user to enter a value, we can fill out this field with the value to be applied when we leave the parameter value blank (when we configure a DIP profile for a preservation plan).

    • Mandatory: it is a check indicating whether it is mandatory to put a value for the DIP profile parameter or not.
